La Taurina is not a story about the miserable situations I have dealt with in live. If it was so, it would have been a never ending story. It’s not about all of those times I felt alone throughout my childhood, all of the times my classmates bullied me. It’s not about the times that I first felt abused by boyfriends. And it’s also not about the time I was abandoned while pregnant and had to raise my child on my own at a young age. No La Taurina is about all the things I did to get out of these miserable situations and how I used my inner strength to grow as a person and create my own happiness. It’s about believing in yourself and doing whatever it takes.
I have always been a very ambitious person. Throughout my whole career, I always wanted to be the best at what I was doing. I always wanted to grow in experience and in position. It’s a character thing I think, because it also came out in my sports, I was a soccer player and I always wanted to win and become a professional. Nowadays I practice kickboxing and even though some people find me overaged, I still want to reach the most out of it and stand there in the ring.
This job felt real great, I got a company car, a laptop and an iPhone. But most of all, I got an office
So when in 2015 I came out of a real black period in my life; my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer, I had lost a brother to cancer, my father died in a fire at my parents’ house, so my mother was admitted to an elderly care home because of her Alzheimer and it was unlikely for me to get the promotion I really worked hard for at the company I was employed, I decided to look for new career opportunities and I applied for a job as account manager in my hometown. This job felt really great, I got a company car, it wasn’t the biggest car you would expect for an account manager, but hey, it was a company car. I also got a laptop and an iPhone. But most of all, I got an office, my own office. It felt really good. I was thrilled that I made this move to a smaller company closer to home. I didn’t have to spend so much time traveling to work and I could also sometimes work from home. It all looked like a great opportunity with good benefits.
When he said ‘So you are the one that’s going to make me a millionaire’ I really started feeling the pressure.
Ok and then I was expected to do what I was paid for: Finding new customers. Of course coming from a worldwide operating company to a local company was a difference. In my previous job, everything was arranged. For everything, there was a system, a worksheet or instructions, but now I had to figure out everything myself. But I still was the same person who wanted to be the best and wanted to grow. So I did everything possible to make it work. Even though there were times I really didn’t know how. I made cold visits, cold calls, set up a whole social media funnel, went to every single network meeting in the area. But when one day I was introduced to one of the partners he said to me, ‘So you are the one that’s going to make me a millionaire’ I really started feeling the pressure.
Even though I am not made to give up I kept thinking about that sentence and how it affected me. How was I supposed to make this man a millionaire? Then I started thinking WHY am I supposed to make this man a millionaire? And when I kept repeating this question to myself, I never could find the answer, because I didn’t want to make this man a millionaire. I thought if I am making all these efforts wandering around, figuring things out for myself. Struggling every day to find my way, why should I make someone else a millionaire? I’m the one here building up my network, I should better invest in making MYSELF a millionaire. And from that day on I started building my own business.
I just stood there feeling myself a true expert in what I was presenting
It first all started in my head. I was making a plan, finding a way to use my qualities. I was already a member of a network organization, we had breakfast meetings every two weeks. Every member was supposed to hold a presentation. The first time I held my presentation about the company I worked for. It was a good presentation. The second time I was looking for a new subject, so I decided to present my skill: sales. I was working several years already in sales and I had my experiences so I wanted to share them with my fellow network members. Going to all these network meetings I had learned that sales is something not a lot of people who started their own business are very good at. Also in my network organization. It was not a good presentation, it was a great presentation, I felt good, I could answer every question which was fired at me. I just stood there feeling myself a true expert in what I was presenting. And so I started the idea of becoming the sales expert in my network.
I was teaching them about brand awareness, how to use sales funnels, CRM and social media
I read more about sales, talked to people finding out how they experience doing sales in their business. Advising them how to make sales part of their organization by planning sales in their week. I even gave it a name we used at my previous company for a fixed period of sales activities, The Commercial Break, meaning to take a break of your core business and only focus for a few hours on sales activities. If you do that regularly, you will see how easy it will become after a while and how you can develop your sales skills by analyzing after worth want went right and what went not so right., what can I do next time again, what skills can I improve. Doing this you can attract much more orders for your company. And that’s what sales is about. Doing the right things for the right people at the right time so you can do what you love the most, and that is your core business.
I made it my goal to convince people to use their existing network to expand their orders instead of focusing on attracting new customers. Off course you should also attract new customers, but it’s easier to expand your network since they already know you. I was teaching them about brand awareness, how to use sales funnels, CRM and social media. Inventing commercial activities to attract new business for their company.
I wanted to show her that not doing things will not get you anywhere
But doing great in my career I felt there was another success to achieve in my personal life. Being a mother you pendle every day in your mind between your professional career and your family. I have 3 kids with three different characters. My first born is a son, he has his own idea of how things should go, my little baby is a girl, she knows that she is the youngest and really fights her way to get her position in our family. My second child is also a girl, but she struggles a bit. She doesn’t always know how to position herself, not in our family but also not at school. And it worries me. She is a pretty girl, very nice to people and very clever. But she is always worried about what others might think of her. She tends not to do things because she might do it wrong. I wanted to show her that not doing things will not get you anywhere. I wanted to make her stronger and make her believe in herself. So I started a clothing brand with her. La Taurina.
Reading all this is how I knew I had to give this to my daughter
La Taurina stands for a combination of her and my name, it also stands for my zodiac sign, Taurus, that’s the image we used for the logo. And last but not least it also stands for an organic compound which is found in very high concentrations in heart and muscle. Taurine is present in breast milk, and has been added to many infant formulas. Reading all this is how I knew I had to give this to my daughter., We went to different kinds of fashion factories together. We traveled through Europe to build our brand. I watched her grow developing this brand. She sometimes still is a bit shy, But she also knows what she can achieve. She knows that we are not there yet, but she really has come out of her shell and that’s the greatest gift I could give her.
As a mother I made myself her coach, I show her how things are done. How it is never easy, but if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything you want! I gave her La Taurina. And it’s not for her only, it’s for all these girls around the world feeling this way. But it is also for all these women who have already been through a lot of struggles to feel the recognition for all the efforts they have put up with. I think we need to have this. A community where we can show each other how we can achieve so many beautiful goals by standing together! I think the world is in need of some Taurina.

We are now starting by selling caps, but we want to expand the collection really fast with leggings, shirts, hoodiedresses. And we want to make sure that everyone knows our stories. This is my story, but every girl, every woman has their own story. Our caps don’t have article numbers, but they have a name, they have a face, they have a story of a woman who we have given the recognition for all her efforts in life. And this is only the beginning. We want to keep on going, producing products and selling more stories, your story! So I invite every girl and every woman to join our community, to show the world you are a Taurina by wearing the caps, the shirts and the leggings.
We don’t have to have the same goals, but make sure you have your goals. And never lose sight of them
So all of a sudden I was being a business woman, working hard every day for my own benefits and not just because some else wants me to make them a millionaire. No, because I want to work hard for myself, my family, and because I want to be an example of how you can achieve your goals in life. Whatever your goals may be. We don’t have to have the same goals, but make sure you have your goals. And never lose sight of them. There will always be obstacles in life, there will always be periods in life you will find it hard to keep believing in your goals. But whatever you do don’t let them go. Find yourself a way back on this path to your goals. Don’t let anybody tell you can’t, and don’t let anyone use you for their own success. Success is whatever you make of it yourself and that’s why our slogan is
